- #1“The rules of the underground are simple: survive the game, win your freedom, and try not to fall into the abyss. Leo woke up on a pile of toxic garbage, a heavy iron collar locked around his neck. Above him, a massive, swirling vortex of trash—the Abyss—blocked out the sky. He was in the Pit, the dumping ground for a dystopian upper world that discarded human lives like broken toys. A loud electronic chime echoed from the metallic walls around him. "Welcome, Trash," a synthesized voice chimed from a giant, floating screen displaying a pink circle, triangle, and square. "Welcome to Round One. The game is Garter Belts. Time limit: ten minutes." Leo scrambled to his feet alongside a hundred other captives clad in identical green, grease-stained tracksuits. In front of them stood the Janitors—silent executioners wearing black mesh masks with geometric shapes, holding rusted cleavers that pulsed with a strange, dark energy. Suddenly, a massive mechanical doll with dead eyes rotated its head toward the crowd. "In this borderland between life and death, your trash is your life," the screen lit up, showing a giant Three of Spades card. "This is a physical game of survival. When the doll turns her back, you must scavenge a piece of discarded junk and awaken its Jinki—the soul within the object. If you move without an active weapon when she looks, you will be eliminated." The doll turned around. "Green light... red light..." The crowd surged forward into the mountain of refuse. Leo dived into a pile of scrap metal. His hands wrapped around a discarded, rusted umbrella. He thought of his home, his desire to see the sky, and infused his raw will into the object. The umbrella flared with a vibrant, glowing aura, transforming into a razor-sharp lance. It was his Jinki. To his left, a man grabbed a broken mirror, but failed to connect with its soul. The doll snapped its head back. "RED LIGHT!" The man with the mirror froze, but his weapon remained dead trash. Laser beams shot from the doll's eyes, vaporizing him instantly. Panic erupted. People screamed, tripping over bodies and debris. "Keep your composure!" shouted a woman with short hair named Arisu, who was wielding a modified camera Jinki that projected solid-light barriers. "Look at the patterns! The Janitors are tracking the despair in your hearts. Cleanse your mind, focus on your weapon, and move!" With five minutes remaining, the doll began chanting at triple speed. Leo sprinted, using his umbrella lance to deflect falling debris triggered by explosive charges in the walls. They reached the final stretch, but a massive steel door began to slide shut, threatening to trap them in the kill zone. "We won't make it!" a player screamed, dropping his weapon in despair—and immediately getting cut down by a Janitor's cleaver. "Don't throw your life away!" Leo roared. He threw himself forward, jamming his open umbrella Jinki into the gap of the closing steel door. The immense pressure bent the metal frame of the umbrella, but the hardened spirit of the discarded object held the heavy door open. Arisu and a dozen surviving players slid under the gap just as the timer hit zero. A loud buzz echoed through the arena. The doll deactivated, and the geometric-masked Janitors stepped back into the shadows. "Game Clear," the automated voice announced. The iron collars clicked open. A single playing card—the Three of Spades—fell from the ceiling into Leo's hand, its face glowing with a digital balance of 100,000,000 won. Leo looked up at the swirling Abyss, his broken but victorious umbrella in hand. He had survived the first borderland of the Pit, but looking at the card in his hand, he knew the next game would require an even greater price to pay. ------------------------------ If you want to continue the story, let me know: * What suit the next card should be (Hearts for betrayal, Diamonds for intelligence, or Clubs for teamwork?) * If Leo should team up with Arisu or fight alone * What kind of Jin”
