  1. #1[PANEL 1 – FULL PAGE SPLASH] Rain pours over the city. Red and blue emergency lights flash through the darkness. A six-story apartment building has partially collapsed. Concrete hangs over the street. Glass covers the pavement. People scream. Smoke rises from the wreckage. News drones hover overhead. REPORTER (OFF SCREEN): "Another Enigma-related incident has left dozens trapped beneath the structure. Rescue teams are warning civilians to stay away—" In the middle of the chaos, one man is climbing over the debris. Not a soldier. Not an Enigma user. Not a hero. Just a large young man in a soaked work jacket. Raphael de Costa. 24 years old. Out of breath. Covered in dust. Terrified. A rescue worker grabs his arm. RESCUE WORKER: "Hey! You can't go in there! The building's still unstable!" Raphael looks toward a small hand sticking out from beneath the rubble. A child. Barely visible. His legs tremble. He's scared. He knows he could die. But he takes a step forward. Then another. RAPHAEL: "...Yeah." RAPHAEL: "I know." The rescue worker stares. RAPHAEL: "But she's still in there." [CLOSE-UP] Raphael clenches his fist. Rain runs down his face. RAPHAEL (THOUGHT): "If someone's got to carry it..." RAPHAEL (THOUGHT): "...then I'll carry it." [END PAGE]
  2. #2[PANEL 2 – "THE WEIGHT" The rain grows heavier. The building groans. Chunks of concrete fall from above. Raphael crawls through a narrow gap in the rubble. Dust fills the air. The flashing lights outside are barely visible. His breathing becomes ragged. RAPHAEL (THOUGHT): "Come on..." RAPHAEL (THOUGHT): "Just a little further..." A weak voice echoes through the darkness. CHILD: "H-Hello...?" Raphael freezes. Then smiles. RAPHAEL: "Hey." RAPHAEL: "Don't worry." RAPHAEL: "I'm gonna get you out." For a moment, the child relaxes. Raphael reaches the trapped girl. She can't be older than eight. A massive concrete support beam has pinned her leg. Raphael plants his feet. Grabs the beam. And pulls. Nothing. Veins bulge in his arms. The beam doesn't move. RAPHAEL: "NGH—!" Again. Nothing. Again. Nothing. The girl begins crying. CHILD: "It hurts..." CHILD: "It hurts..." Raphael's expression cracks. For the first time, he realizes something. No matter how badly he wants it. No matter how much heart he has. He isn't strong enough. The building suddenly SHUDDERS. A violent tremor runs through the structure. CRAAAAAAK. Both of them look upward. The ceiling is collapsing. Dust rains down. The girl's eyes widen. CHILD: "Mister..." CHILD: "...I'm scared." Silence. Raphael's fists tremble. Not from fear. From helplessness. RAPHAEL (THOUGHT): "No." RAPHAEL (THOUGHT): "Not again." A small panel. A flash of memory. An ambulance. A covered body. A younger Raphael standing in the rain. RAPHAEL (THOUGHT): "I couldn't save them then." Back to the present. The building begins to collapse. RAPHAEL (THOUGHT): "I'm not losing someone again." The final panel fills the page. For the first time in the story— The air around Raphael distorts. As if reality itself has heard him. A single word appears beside him. ENIGMA. [END PANEL]
