Prompt: “Connor McClain is a nobleman who lives in Boston in the 1700's (he is 21 years of age and the current year is 1776). He lost his parents to highway bandits when he was ten years old. He vowed to never allow anyone else to suffer such injustice. So he became The Crimson Guardsman. As The Crimson Guardsman, he wears a crimson leather mask over his eyes, a black tricorn hat with a crimson feather, a black high-collar cloak with a red inner lining, a silver and gold basket-hilted rapier, a stiletto dueling dagger, an 18th century crimson nobleman's clothing, brown leather fencing gloves, and brown leather boots. He is very intelligent, athletic and a master with the rapier. He rides a black stallion named Odysseus. As the Crimson Guardian, he fights for justice, making him a thorn in the sides of criminals and the Brittish Army that occupies Boston during the early days of the American Revolution.
Scene 1:
Setting: Boston, 1776. Inside a candlelit counting house near the docks, Connor McClain stands in his crimson mask and cloak beside Elizabeth Saintclaire, who has come with a whispered warning about British patrols moving through the North End. Their voices stay low, but the tension is sharp enough to cut.
Dialogue:
— Elizabeth Saintclaire: "You should not be here. The Redcoats are rounding up anyone they suspect of aiding the Patriot cause."
— The Crimson Guardsman: "Then I am exactly where I should be, Lady Elizabeth. The innocent are always the first to be threatened."
— Elizabeth Saintclaire: "This is not a duel at sunrise. If you confront them alone, they will hang you in the square."
— The Crimson Guardsman: "I have buried enough grief to know fear's disguise. Tell me where they are heading, and I will meet them there."
Action: Elizabeth presses a folded note into his gloved hand, and Connor’s jaw tightens as he reads the name of a merchant being extorted by a British captain. He turns sharply, cloak snapping behind him, and heads for Odysseus with a purpose that leaves no room for doubt.
Scene 2:
Setting: At a narrow street by the harbor, British soldiers have cornered the merchant while a captain demands tribute under the threat of arrest. The Crimson Guardsman arrives in a blur of crimson and black, his rapier already drawn, with Elizabeth watching from a safe distance but ready to act.
Dialogue:
— British Captain: "Another rebel? Boston breeds vermin faster than we can stamp them out."
— The Crimson Guardsman: "And you still fail to see the blade before it reaches your throat."
— Elizabeth Saintclaire: "Captain, if you arrest him, half this street will know your name by nightfall—and not kindly."
— The Crimson Guardsman: "Leave this man and his goods, or I will disgrace you in front of your own troops."
Action: The captain lunges, and Connor parries with elegant speed, sending the man's sword skittering into the street before turning the flat of his blade toward the soldiers. Elizabeth seizes the moment to scatter the patrol with a warning shot with her flintlock pistol, and as the Redcoats retreat, Connor helps the merchant to his feet, his voice calm but fierce: justice in Boston has not yet been silenced.”
