  2. #2KAEL DRAVEN: SHADOW REAPER Chapter 1: The Boy Beneath the Storm The rain never stopped in Noxhaven. Day after day, year after year, dark clouds hung above the city like an endless curse. The people had grown used to it. Children played in puddles. Merchants covered their stalls with thick cloth. Travelers wrapped themselves in heavy cloaks before entering the city gates. To them, the storms were simply a part of life. But on this particular evening, something felt different. The wind howled louder than usual. Thunder rolled across the sky like the growl of some ancient beast. And somewhere beyond the horizon, fate had already begun moving. --- Kael Draven ran through the crowded streets with a stack of books tucked beneath his arm. Rainwater dripped from his black hair and soaked his clothes, but he didn't seem to care. He smiled as he passed familiar faces. "Kael!" The voice belonged to an old merchant standing beneath a wooden awning. "I finally found that history book your mother wanted." Kael slowed down and grinned. "Really? She'll probably buy it before I even tell her." The merchant laughed. "That woman reads more books than the entire city." "That's because she doesn't know how to stop." The two shared a laugh before Kael continued down the street. Everyone knew him. Not because he was important. Not because he was powerful. But because he was kind. The kind of person who helped elderly neighbors carry supplies. The kind of person who stayed late to repair broken roofs after storms. The kind of person who would one day be forced to carry the weight of an entire world. Though he didn't know it yet. --- High above the city, a pair of golden eyes watched him. A tall figure stood silently on a distant rooftop. Rain struck his black cloak and rolled off without leaving a mark. Several armored soldiers stood behind him. Their armor was black as midnight. Their faces hidden beneath masks. One of them stepped forward. "The target has been confirmed." The figure said nothing. His gaze remained fixed on Kael. "The guardian still possesses it." Silence. The soldier hesitated. "Should we begin the operation tonight?" Lightning flashed. For a brief moment, the man's face became visible. Silver hair. Sharp features. Eyes that looked far older than any human should possess. Azrael Voss. The leader of the Eclipse Order. The man who would one day become known as the Celestial Tyrant. His expression never changed. "Tonight," he said quietly. The soldier lowered his head. "As you command." Azrael turned toward the distant city. "The Void Heart returns to me." --- Meanwhile, Kael finally arrived home. A small house sat near the edge of Noxhaven. Warm light glowed through the windows. The sight immediately made him relax. No matter how bad the weather became, home always felt safe. He opened the door. The familiar scent of cooking greeted him. His mother sat at a table surrounded by books and scrolls. As usual. Without even looking up, she spoke. "You're late." Kael removed his wet coat. "The rain." His mother sighed dramatically. "You've used that excuse for six years." "And it's worked for six years." She finally looked at him and laughed. A genuine laugh. The kind that instantly made a room feel warmer. Kael smiled. Moments like this felt permanent. Like they would last forever. Neither of them realized how precious those moments truly were. --- Dinner was simple. Bread. Stew. Tea. Nothing special. Yet it felt perfect. While eating, Kael noticed an old book resting beside his mother's chair. Unlike the others, it looked ancient. The leather cover was cracked. Strange symbols covered its surface. Curiosity immediately caught his attention. "What's that?" His mother glanced at the book. For a brief second, her smile faded. "It belongs to an old story." "A boring one?" "The opposite." Kael leaned forward. Now she had his attention. Hi
