He was poor, stubborn, and carried a strange silver mark behind his left eye — a mark that glowed whenever storms came near. Kael never feared the sky. He feared silence. One night, while repairing an old glider on a rooftop, the forbidden wind arrived early. The city bells screamed. “CLOSE YOUR WINDOWS!” “DON’T LISTEN!” People ran indoors. But Kael heard something different. Not his name. A girl’s voice. “Find me before the sky dies.” Then the clouds split open. For the first time in a hundred years, everyone saw it: A giant shadow moving above the stars. Not flying. Watching. The next morning, half the city pretended nothing happened. But Kael found something impossible on his rooftop. A feather made of glass. Warm to the touch. And inside it… A trapped memory. He saw flashes: A burning moon Cities falling upward into the sky A girl chained inside a tower of light And himself standing beside her wearing black armor stained with silver fire Then the memory ended. A voice echoed inside his head: “The Sky Gate has chosen you.” Suddenly, soldiers crashed through his door. The royal hunters. Their captain pointed a blade at Kael’s throat. “By order of the Crown,” she said coldly, “you are under arrest for hearing the First Voice.” Kael stared at her. Then noticed something terrifying. Behind her eyepatch… was the same silver mark.”
