Prompt: Jes,” you hear causing you to stir awake from the familiar voice of your brother. “What?” you say getting up and wondering where you were. “Where’d the ship go?” you ask dazed and looking up at Davaris’ puzzled look. “Are you alright Jes?” he asks as you look around and see that you were in your room at the Temple of Polaris in Solista. “Aye, I think so. I had the strangest dream that I was on a ship. You had died in battle and Raylun and I were going somewhere to get a gauntlet,” you reply with your brother slapping you on the arm. “Come on, let’s get something to eat. You had a long night last night. You lost all your money to Carun also by the way,” Davaris replied as you sat up in bed wondering what really had happened. “Where’s Ray?” you ask getting up from your bed realizing how cold the room was and feeling dazed and sleepy. “She’s with father at the alter doing her morning prayers as usual. Jes are you sure you’re alright?” Davaris asks with you waving off his concern. “Aye, I’m fine,” you reply drifting toward your window and looking out at the temple courtyard. You spotted Harbie down in the courtyard climbing down from a wagon that was loaded with wood and other supplies for construction. You saw he was limping heavily and one of his arms was tucked to his side making you question what was happening. “What happened to Harbie?” you ask looking to Davaris who was moving to your side looking down at the unaware priest. “Jes Harbie was injured years ago when he was thrown from that horse remember?” your brother said looking at you strangely. “Oh I didn’t remember,” you say wondering how that had happened, as you didn’t remember the priest being a cripple. “You really did some good drinking last night didn’t you?” your brother asked with a laugh putting a reassuring arm around you. “Come on let’s get something to eat,” he says with you just nodding and turning from the window of your room. You saw your brother was dressed in his blue and white temple tunic and felt a relief that he was still there. You grab your own tunic and pull it on, along with some leggings and boots, and follow your brother out into the hallway. “I don’t feel well, maybe I did do too much drinking,” you say feeling nausea wash over you. “I told you. You have to slow down on all that ale chugging. Don’t worry the Mule won’t run out I promise. Believe me I’ve tried to drink the damnable place dry but it never works Jes,” Davaris laughed as the two of you move down the hall to the temple. You felt relieved that you were at home and everything was at it was meant to be. You just wished you could remember more about that vivid dream you just awoke from and what you were looking for. You remembered something about a gauntlet of power that you were seeking. Why you were seeking it eluded you as Davaris and you rounded a corner to see the private dining area. Moving to the table you take a seat as your brother moves to a large cauldron that was resting on a fire pit. Taking a giant ladle he scooped up a portion of the cauldron’s contents and poured it into a small wooden bowl. Setting it down you smell the familiar sent of oats as you grab a nearby wooden spoon that usually sat in a small wooden holder on the center of the table. “You know that going out there today is going to be a waste Jes,” Davaris says with you starting in on your breakfast. “Out where?” you ask oblivious this morning considering the dream you had was still bothering you. “To the forest, Jes did you forget about telling us you wanted to find the place where your father and mother had met?” “Nay, I remember now Davaris, sorry that ale did a number on me last night,” you say not wanting to alarm your brother any further. “It surly did Jes,” he replied sitting down with his breakfast and started eating quickly. “You know Ray said she’s going with us too, no matter what,” “That sounds like her,” you reply to your brother after taking another mouthful of the oatmeal. “This seems all strangely familiar,” you say with your brother simply nodding at your observation. . “Aye I guess it would since we’ve been looking for these places almost every weekend for the past month Jes,” your brother laughed as you realize he was right. “Has it been that long Davaris?” “Aye it has brother, and you’ve been running yourself into the ground with this. I think this should be the last time Jes, you’ve look enough,” your brother said with authority as he always did when he was trying to convince you of something. “Maybe you’re right, I have been wasting almost every weekend with this quest,” you admit a bit begrudgingly as Davaris just smiled at you. “Jes what will you gain if you know of this location?” “I don’t know Davaris I just have to know where it happened,” you say not even understanding it yourself. “That’s fine Jes, we’ll go take another look out there today,” Davaris says with you enjoying the fact that your brother has always supported your decisions. “Thank you Davaris that means so much that you are willing to do this,” you say finishing your meal and setting the spoon in the now dirty bowl. “Of course Jes, I care about you,” your brother says with loving eyes watching as you stand up reaching for a cup and pouring yourself some water and drinking deeply after waking parched after drinking ale last night. You felt glad that you didn’t feel too hung over and set the cup down. “Come then, let’s get out there, it is already afternoon, and I’d like to get to the Mule by dinner tonight if at all possible,” your brother says with your smiling at him in reply. “I’m sure I can give you a few silver to play with tonight too. But Jes please do me a favor, try to win this time,” he added getting up from the table that you both just had eaten at. You could only shoot him a look in reply as you both left the dining hall and started back toward your room to grab your bastard sword and a few trail rations for the day.
