By the time he got free, the masked man was gone. Terrified, Keal and Shu found Keal's mother, and they all ran back to their house. But the moment they opened the door, a scary thought hit Keal and Shu at the exact same time. “Where is… Mira?” Silence filled the room. Keal’s mother’s face turned completely white. With a shaking voice, she whispered, “A man came… with a knife. He asked for her by name… and he took her.” Shock. Fear. Confusion. Shu held his head and shouted, “What is going on?!” Keal rolled up the sleeve of his right arm. Dark blue energy lines were glowing under his skin. For the first time, he spoke the truth he had been hiding. “This isn’t an accident, Shu. This is connected to my father. And it started years ago, before we even moved to this village.””
