The Monster
The Hollow Saint
A towering humanoid creature with a cracked white face and a shadow that moves independently. It does not feed on flesh—it feeds on fear, memory, and awareness.
The more someone notices it, the stronger its shadow becomes.
CHAPTER 1 — “The Shadow That Smiled”
Haru walks home during heavy rain after cram school. On the way, he notices a tall figure standing motionless in an alley beneath a broken streetlight.
At first he thinks it’s a statue.
But when he looks away and back again, the figure is closer.
Not walking.
Not running.
Just closer.
Haru describes it internally:
“It looked human… until I noticed the proportions. Its arms were too long. Its neck looked stretched. And its face… looked peaceful in the worst possible way.”
He notices the creature’s white face resembles a cracked religious statue. Its smile never changes.
Then Haru sees something impossible:
The creature’s shadow moves before the creature itself does.
When Haru finally runs, the shadow crawls across the walls beside him like liquid.
At home that night, Haru notices his own shadow smiling a second too late.
CHAPTER 2 — “The Things People Forget”
Haru begins investigating the creature.
The next day, he asks classmates whether they saw the strange figure near the alley.
Nobody remembers anything unusual.
Not even the police officer who passed by that night.
Haru realizes something terrifying:
People forget encounters with the Hollow Saint unless they focus on it directly.
Meanwhile, strange things begin happening:
• clocks stopping at 3:17 AM
• reflections moving late
• missing memories lasting several seconds
Haru’s friend, Mina, finally sees the creature in an abandoned train station.
She describes it:
“Its face looked carved… like something pretending to be holy. But the cracks moved. I swear they moved.”
That night, Mina completely forgets the encounter.
But Haru remembers.
And the monster becomes stronger because of it.
CHAPTER 3 — “The Church Underground”
Haru discovers old newspaper articles about disappearances connected to an abandoned underground church beneath the city.
He explores it with his classmate Riku.
Inside they find:
• shattered white statues
• prayer benches facing empty walls
• black stains shaped like human silhouettes
At the center stands a massive cracked statue identical to the Hollow Saint’s face.
Riku panics after hearing whispers in the darkness.
Then the Hollow Saint appears behind the altar.
Haru finally sees its mouth open fully for the first time.
He describes it:
“The lower half of its face split apart like ceramic breaking underwater… and inside there weren’t teeth. There were fingers. Pale fingers twisting like they were trying to speak.”
The creature still does not attack directly.
Instead, the shadow beneath the pews begins pulling itself toward Riku.
Riku escapes physically unharmed—
but the next morning, he no longer remembers Haru.”
